Introducing Mindful Haven

Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. It arrives in waves—sometimes gentle, sometimes overwhelming—often when we least expect it. You might be going about your day when suddenly the weight of loss settles on your chest, making it hard to breathe, hard to think, hard to simply be.

I created Mindful Haven because I understand this journey intimately. After losing my husband and navigating the complex terrain of grief, I know that what we need most in those moments isn’t a complicated programme or lengthy instructions. We need a gentle place to land. We need compassion. We need to know we’re not alone.

What is Mindful Haven?

Mindful Haven is a free digital sanctuary offering guided meditations specifically designed for grief recovery. It’s not another app demanding your attention or adding to your overwhelm. Instead, it’s a quiet companion—always there when you need it, never intrusive when you don’t.

Think of it as having a supportive presence in your pocket, available at 3am when sleep won’t come, during that difficult anniversary, or in the middle of a busy day when grief suddenly demands your attention.

Why I Created This Resource

Throughout my 35 years as an NHS nurse and midwife, and now as a hypnotherapist specialising in grief recovery, I’ve witnessed how profoundly we need accessible support during our darkest moments. Professional therapy is invaluable, but grief doesn’t wait for appointments. It shows up in the supermarket queue, during your commute, or in the quiet moments before sleep.

Mindful Haven bridges that gap. It provides immediate, compassionate support whenever you need it, complementing deeper therapeutic work or simply offering comfort when you’re navigating loss on your own.

Three Ways Mindful Haven Supports Your Journey

Gentle Support for Heavy Moments

When waves of grief feel particularly heavy, the app offers guided meditations that help you navigate your emotions with compassion rather than resistance. These sessions acknowledge your pain whilst gently supporting you through it, helping you find moments of peace even amidst sorrow.

Grounding for Overwhelming Feelings

Some moments of grief are sudden and intense—perhaps triggered by a song, a scent, or an unexpected memory. Mindful Haven includes quick grounding practices for exactly these situations. When loss feels overwhelming and you simply need to breathe, these shorter exercises help you find your footing again.

Connection and Community

One of grief’s cruelest aspects is how isolating it can feel. Mindful Haven reminds you that your journey is understood and shared. You’re not alone in this, even when it feels that way. The app connects you to a wider community of people who truly understand what you’re experiencing.

How to Use This Resource

There’s no right or wrong way to use Mindful Haven. You don’t have to do this perfectly—you simply need to take one small step at a time.

You might:

  • Start with a 3-minute calming meditation to ease into the practice
  • Keep it bookmarked for difficult moments when you need immediate support
  • Use it alongside other grief work you’re doing
  • Share it with others who might benefit from gentle guidance

The app is designed to meet you wherever you are in your grief journey, whether that’s the raw, early days of loss or years later when unexpected waves still arrive.

A Note About Additional Support

Whilst Mindful Haven provides valuable guided meditations, it’s important to acknowledge that some grief journeys benefit from more personalised support. If you find yourself struggling, please know that individual therapy sessions are available, where we can work together more intensively on your specific healing needs.

The app is currently being developed with additional audio content, so it will continue to grow as a resource for anyone navigating grief and loss.

You Deserve a Gentle Place to Land

Grief is not a problem to be solved or a weakness to overcome. It’s a natural response to love and loss, and it deserves to be met with tenderness. Whether you lost someone recently or years ago, whether your grief is from death, divorce, retirement, or any other significant loss—you deserve support that honours your experience.

Mindful Haven was created with deep understanding of what grief truly asks of us. Not to “get over it” or “move on,” but to find ways to carry our loss whilst still living fully.

Ready to Begin?

Visit Mindful Haven and give yourself permission to take just one small step toward healing. Start with a 3-minute meditation, explore the resources, and see what resonates with you.

Remember: You don’t have to navigate this journey alone, and you don’t have to have it all figured out. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply show up for ourselves with compassion.
